본 학회 회원인 서울시립대학교 신소재공학과 김영욱 교수는 2017년 1월 22일부터 27일까지 미국 Daytona Beach에서 개최된 41st International Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites (41st ICACC)에서 미국 세라믹학회 (The American Ceramic Society) 엔지니어링 세라믹스 부회에서 수여하는 'Global Star Award'를 수상하였다.
