The 1st TMS-ABM Interamerican Materials Congress, held in conjunction with 65th Annual Congress of ABM (Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association) and the 18th IFHTSE Congress, was conducted in July, 2010, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The entire meeting was organized by ABM and attracted approximately 1,000 attendees.
This new meeting is an outcome of the TMS Alliance of the Americas strategy to work with society partners in North America and Latin America.
ABM will again host the meeting, which we hope that will become a series of conferences Pan Americans. It will occur during the 69th ABM International Annual Congress, at the 70th anniversary of the founding of Association.
Pan American Materials Conference - 2014 will count with the participation of the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the Argentinian Materials Association (SAM), Peruvian Association of Metallurgy, Materials and Minerals - MMMPA and Chilean Society of Metallurgy and Materials - SOCHIM.

Paper submission
The submission and approval of presentations is independent of the publication process. It is possible for authors to give presentations without paper submission. Submissions for a special issue of J.M.R.T. dedicated to the Pan American Conference will undergo the same rigorous reviewing process as all articles. The symposium organizers will play a key role inn this endeavor. The Journal of Materials Research and Technology (JMRT) is a publication of the Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association and publishes four issues per year. JMRT provides an international medium for the publication of theoretical and experimental studies related to Metallurgy, Materials and Minerals research and technology. Appropriate submissions to JMRT should include scientific and/or engineering factors which affect processes and products in the Metallurgy, Materials and Mining areas.
Papers will be evaluated by the Editorial Board of the Journal.
