The 1st International Conference on Automobile Steel (ICAS2016) & 3rd International Conference
on High Manganese Steels (HMnS2016) will be held in Chengdu, China on November 16-18, 2016.
ICAS conference is initiated by The Chinese Society for Metals and devoted to all aspects of
automobile steel. HMnS2016 is a continuation of HMnS2011 in Korea and HMnS2014 in Germany.
Steel delivers a lot of solutions for solving future global challenges such as living and mobility in
megacities or the preservation of material resources due to steel's excellent possibilities for
recycling. In the recent 20 years, the Chinese steel and automobile industries have been developed
rapidly, the annual production of crude steel and output of automobiles reached 820 million tons
and 23 million cars in 2014 individually. But still, safety, comfort and efficiency are fundamental
requirements for modern automobiles. With the development of modern automobile industry, higher
requirements, such as lightweight construction, energy saving & emission reduction, have been
presented on automobile steels. Meanwhile, with the rapid increase of world’s steel production and
consumption, the important role of high manganese steels has achieved worldwide
acknowledgement. High manganese steels are now being of strategic importance in many industrial
sections, such as construction, automobile and energy production industries,
ICAS2016 & HMnS2016 aim to further enhance the close cooperation among iron and steel
enterprises, research institutions and automobile manufacturing enterprises, through the extensive
exchanges on the experiences and latest achievements of the research, development and application
of advanced automobile steel and high manganese steels.
We sincerely expect you to contribute and participate in this event to make ICAS2016 &
HMnS2016 a success.
Abstract Submission
All contributions on the theme of the conference as described previously are welcome. The official
language of the conference is English. Prospective authors are invited to submit an abstract of 300
words (in English) by 15 December 2015 to the conference secretariat. The abstract should provide
sufficient information for a fair assessment.
