International Conference on Advances in Structural Alloys and Their Manufacturing (ASATM)

Scope and Aim
Scientific and technological advances in understanding, designing, and manufacturing of structural metals and alloys are critical for a wide variety of industries and the society in general. Recent developments such as additive manufacturing and the need for accelerated discovery and/or sustainable methods for their processing, utilization, and recycling has been a major impetus in renewed interest in them.

Keeping this in view, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore has launched a major research initiative titled ¡°Structural Metals and Alloys Programme,¡± in March 2019 with the key objective of developing a world class advanced metallurgy research capacity that covers the entire spectrum of structural alloy engineering within the scientific landscape of Singapore.

The programme covers topics ranging from solidification processing of new alloys to secondary processing of them; conducting detailed studies of the effect of microstructure on mechanical as well as corrosion properties; surface engineering; and using such knowledge to design alloys that offer even higher performance not only in terms of strength and toughness, but also in terms of reduced densities and increased fatigue reliability.

As a part of it, this international conference is being organized so that experts from all over the world can interact with the Singapore colleagues and discuss the latest developments in physical and mechanical metallurgy of advanced alloys and their manufacturing. The following are some of the themes of conference. (However, technical contributions on all aspects of structural metals and alloys are welcome.)

List of Topics
Topics of interest include (but are not limitedto):
  • Metallurgy of Additive Manufacturing
  • Surface Engineering and Severe Plastic Deformation
